And why are they there and not this other person. Although we need to, we haven’t yet adopted the idea of ‘putting your money where your mouth is’. Most mainstream platforms (mainly outside the continent) do not owe any allegiance to the industry in Africa, and most time do not benefit from publishing anything we do, so if you want them to mention you as a top 10 designer of the year, or model or blogger, you have to learn how to grease their palms. As a former model manager in UK, I worked closely with a number of magazines, and that’s just about right. So stop being shocked when you see nobody models, online boutiques, designers or whatsoever being praised by a mainstream websites. It’s business as usual.
