According to reports, Beyonce, 38, has chosen to shoot at several locations in Catford and Thamesmead. But there is some major controversy surrounding the project. Beyoncé’s casting team is only calling for ‘black and brown people of different cultures, nationalities, ethnicities, genders and ages’. It appears that the video will not feature any “White” girls. The casting ad, which was leaked online, has some of the ‘Halo’ singer’s fans a little upset. The “Formation” femme fatale, 38, is currently filming a music video for “Brown Skin Girl,” one of the hit joints off her highly touted 27-track project. “Brown Skin Girl” quickly went viral due to its ode to darker-complexioned women, particularly African Americans. Even Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o posted a video to her Instagram page celebrating Queen Bey’s testimonial to mahogany-hued sisters. The single also birthed the #BrownSkinGirlChallenge that also went viral and vaulted to the top of Twitter’s trending topics nationwide as dark-skinned women celebrated themselves unabashedly. “We are casting for Black and Brown people of all cultures, nationalities, ethnicities, genders, ages and backgrounds based in London,” the call sheet reads, encouraging people of “all genders, builds, shapes, and ages” to apply. A source says … “Beyoncé wanted this video to truly represent the essence of the song. She may refer to Naomi Campbell and Lupita Nyong’o in the track but she was keen to have normal people step forward and tell their stories.” They added … “Her casting team called for all different family structures to apply including ‘blended, single parent, queer and adopted. Trained actors and dancers were also wanted but the main focus is on showcasing a variety of body shapes and ages, from as young as six months to the elderly.” The site also said that Bey is again working with British director Jenn Nkiru on “Brown Skin Girl.” They last worked together on the “Apesh*t” video.
