Held at the Expo Center Norte in Sao Paulo, Brazil, the three-day extravaganza, starting from May 25th to 27th, exhibited a remarkable display of Africa’s cultural heritage and fashion. The runway witnessed the exhibition of elegant cuts, haute couture, and trendy ready-to-wear pieces. The distinct use of Adire and Ankara fabric delighted the audience. Notably, Nigeria’s prominent designer, Ejiro Amos Tafiri, presented a special showcase of Adire Oodua, featuring A-line adire dresses with statement sleeves, asymmetric tops paired with adire trousers, and long skirts with extravagant organza hems, all crafted with various types of adire. Designers such as Fashion By Ashani, Wuraola4lar, Chiefo, Adire Teems, Pilz and Poiszn, Blingshiki, and Ejiro Amos-Tafiri, supported by the Nigerian Export Promotion Council and Enterprise Sponsors like Providus Bank, graced the runways with astounding designs that showcased Nigeria’s rich culture and dynamism in fashion. Olori Ronke Ogunwusi, the organizer, expressed her delight in witnessing the growing recognition of Nigeria’s Adire fabric on the global stage. Queen Aderonke Ademiluyi-Ogunwusi, renowned for her commitment to African culture and heritage, is the founder of Africa Fashion Week London and Africa Fashion Week Nigeria. She is also the CEO of Adire Oodua Textile Training Hub and Vice Chairman of the House of Oduduwa Foundation. According to Queen Aderonke Ademiluyi-Ogunwusi, Africa Fashion Week Brazil not only celebrates fashion but also serves as a platform for black emancipation.
