Kenya has been experiencing significant unrest due to a finance bill passed by parliament. This bill, backed by the IMF, is expected to increase the cost of living for the average citizen. Kenyans from all over the country took to the streets to protest, resulting in numerous deaths at the hands of the police and widespread civil unrest.

Kenyan President William Ruto denounced the protests on Tuesday as “treasonous” but did not address the public outrage against the finance bill that sparked the demonstrations. The nationwide protests against proposed tax hikes led to a “total shutdown” and turned violent, with police using tear gas and live rounds. At least five people were shot dead, and 31 were injured. Kenyan police were also seen assaulting paramedics who were aiding the injured. The Finance Bill 2024 has ignited the “7 Days of Rage” demonstrations, with the nation facing ongoing upheaval.
