Hot Shots: A Nigerian Model In India Pushing Boundaries: Pictures By Simran Suri & Ushpal Singh Suri

Back in 17th January 2013, we re-published one of our first article titled ‘African Entrepreneurs Slowly Taking Over Fashion Business in India’ (See it here http://wp.me/p5H52a-24m). Whilst writing the article and searching for images to accompany the article, one lady’s face kept popping up. A Nigerian fashion model by the name of Ugochi Latoya Igwilo, and the images were used.

2 and a half years later, as FashionGHANA.com has now grown much bigger, we get mails from two fashionista’s in India. One is a make up artist, the other is a photographer, both sending us images they recently did of an African model. It seems as the opportunities for African models might be limited there they felt sending it to us to expose their work would be the best initiative. What is more intriguing about the pictures is we see the same face Ugochi Latoya Igwilo, in the shot.

I do not wish to make this an article on colorism and beauty in India, all I wish to do is commend her for continuing to push the boundaries of modeling in India and her supportive team. Enjoy the images by Simran Suri photography.
