When it comes to dressing during pregnancy, comfort and style are key. Pregnancy is no longer considered a time in a woman’s life when she has to wear baggy clothes. Pregnant women are now showing of their sense of style with their bump.
You don’t have to compromise your style because you are pregnant, you should still wear the same things you would usually wear. Just get bigger sizes in tops and dresses and always buy with stretch. Only buy a couple of maternity pieces and mix/match them with regular items.
Not ready for a maternity wear? Here’s how to figure out great items you should have in your closet so that you can feel comfortable and look fabulous no matter what season it is or what size you are.
Wrap dress – a classic wrap dress is elegant and easy to wear and are a great choice for any stage.
Leggings – the key is finding what you’re comfortable in and just going with it.
Button Up Shirt/dress- Get an over-sized button-ups in either the women’s or the men’s department. Roll up the sleeves and let the loose material love on your belly.
Pencil Skirts and Blazers- pencil skirt can accentuate the bump, do a belt on top and pair it with a nice blazer for work .
Shift dress- A classic shift dress with a slight A-line has a youthful, deconstructed silhouette that’s flattering on nearly everyone, and especially so for new or expectant moms
Tent Tops or dresses- when you feel like glam-ing up for an occasion, throw on a tent blouse with black leggings and they will put you back in the game.
Stretchy Tight Dresses- they stretch so they work to accommodate your bump.
Maxi Dresses- They have become so trendy with women of all ages – and with good reasons. To start: Empire waists, flowing skirts, a focus on your collarbone, shoulders, and decolletage! Choose a soft jersey fabric that can drape easily over your changing body. This is another item you probably don’t need to buy in the maternity department. Just don’t forget to add a statement necklace.
