AJABENG Presents The Look Book For The ‘Awake Ghana’ Collection

AJABENG just released its Ghana Awake Collection (Fall 22) inspired by the work of Ugandan-Sudanese photographer Richard Lokiden Wani.

The collection follows their last collection titled AfroRomance Collection (SS 21). This new collection offers a window into the soul of AJABENG and underscores the brand’s proclivity for exquisitely made garments as well as thought-provoking social commentary in equal measure.

Ajabeng’s Ghana Awake Collection celebrates the effortless beauty, the richness of spirit, and the sense of worth that characterizes everyday Ghanaians. The collection follows a 70s-style Ghanaian fashion presentation with modern wide-leg pants as opposed to bell bottoms.

According To The Brand

Aesthetically, the oversized silhouettes of the Ghana Awake Collection are a reference to the often ill-fitting “Obroni wawu” (literally ‘dead white man’s clothing’) secondhand clothing that regrettably, continues to be a key part of the modern Ghanaian wardrobe.
