Fashion Designer Afre Anko Addresses Children Of Ghana’s Foreign Ambassadors About Her Success And Starting A Business

When we talk about quality fashion and development of brands in Ghana, Afre Anko is definitely one to watch out for. Although, her brand doesn’t linger in the pop culture of African fashion, the designer has clothes many dignitaries and respectable personalities from Bank managers to ambassadors in both Ghana and London.

 

Hence why Lincoln Community School which hosts most of the off springs of the foreign ambassadors in Ghana selected her to host the children at her Dzorwulu based shop and production house. The children were present at the premises to gather ideas for a project. They interacted with the Chief Designer and CEO, Achiaa Afre, and asked questions concerning how she started the company, her aims and objectives and the fashion industry as a whole.

The workshop was in three batches. The first batch arrived at 8:30am, the second batch arrived at 9:45am and the third batch arrived at 10:45. They were present with parents and teachers. The pupils of the Lincoln Community School had fun and enjoyed themselves.

The Afre Anko brand has only graced two runways in Ghana, Ghana Fashion & Design Week in 2014, and Accra Fashion Week in 2016. The brands manager stated that the Afre Anko brand is targeted at a particular crowd so it only makes sense for them to target certain runways hence their limited fashion show appearances.

Achiaa Afre stated “Speaking to these young children was a great experience, one thing that stood out when they were here is they were astonished of the quality of our products in comparison to other fashion they have come across. And that our prime goal, to not just give Ghanaians flashy, but to ensure we maintain consistency is quality and professionalism”
