PICS: Popular Ghanaian Urban Fashion ‘Free The Youth’ Launches Its First Flagship Store

Streetwear brands are something that is beginning to dominate Ghana’s fashion scene, hence the inclusion of the category in last year’s FashionGHANA Honours & Awards 2021. Speaking on FGHA, a nominee from the Streetwear category and renowned Accra Based, urban fashion brand ‘Free The Youth Ghana’ recently launched its flagship store.

Free The Youth is an eccentric urban fashion brand and movement that has captured the attention and interest of many circles in the city of Accra and continues to grow. The brand made its first debut on Accra Fashion Week in 2017. After that, the rest was history.

Founded in 2013 by Jonathan Coffie, Kelly Foli, Shace Winfred Mensah, and Ormano, Free the Youth has grown to include a number of key players from around the Ghanaian alternative scene, among them event producer Prince Brefo, production lead Gilbert Quansah, photographer Philip N. Boakye, Design Advisor Mecha Clarke, and NGO managers Asia Clarke and Sunshine Duncan.

Last month, May 21st, Free The Youth officially opened the doors to its flagship store in Ghana. The store is located on Liberation Road in Accra and welcomed guests and shoppers on the 21st of May from 1pm till late.

It is a beautiful store and a very inspiring move from the young creatives who continue to prove Free The Youth is not just a brand, but a movement. See the images below.
