Tourism influencer Hamamat Montia celebrated Africa Day in style, donning a stunning floral African print off-shoulder maxi dress while shopping in the market. She shared her celebration on social media, emphasizing the importance of supporting Made in Africa products with the message:

Africa Day is celebrated annually on May 25th. It marks the founding of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) on May 25, 1963. The OAU, now known as the African Union (AU), was established to promote unity and solidarity among African nations, to coordinate and intensify cooperation for development, to safeguard the sovereignty and territorial integrity of member states, and to eradicate all forms of colonialism from Africa. Although it has failed in all those areas. In fact the failure of the AU is what takes away from this as a day of celebration.

Nevertheless, Africa Day is meant to be a time to reflect on the progress that Africa has made while also acknowledging the challenges that lie ahead. It is celebrated across the continent and by African communities around the world with various events, including cultural performances, speeches, panel discussions, and other activities that highlight the continent’s diverse cultures, achievements, and aspirations.
