He died on Friday, April 9, at the age of 50. After his death, rumours surfaced that Beyoncé and her Jay-Z had purchased the late rapper’s master recordings for $10million. However, this has been dismissed by the family of DMX. In a statement shared by Complex, DMX’s family said: ‘There have been a few rumors following our loved one, Earl Simmons’, passing that we’d like to clear up. No one has bought Earl’s masters.’ Such rumours remain a mystery as to why it started as they seem to have absolutely no reason for it’s origins. However at times, in such cases there are parties that set of such rumours for their pr benefits. We can not say who ignited these rumours, it could possibly a hired pr team or a strong fan of Jay Z or DMX who wanted to urge them to do so, all we can say is it only glorifies Jay Z and Beyonce who didn’t come out in public to debunk it. Most hip hop heads will know Jay Z and DMX were not on the best of terms, an issue that began over a decade ago that cause DMX’s verse to be removed off of a Jay Z song titled ‘Money Cash Hoes’. Whether this issue was resolved is unknown to us. The family also warned members of the public not to get scammed by people trying to raise money for the Party Up hitmaker’s funeral. They added: ‘If anyone is requesting for money for his funeral please be aware the person is a scammer. We will keep the public posted on funeral/memorial service arrangements.’ In other news, streams of the late music legend’s tunes have rocketed by 928 percent since his passing on April 9.
