Liz is an Intellectual Property, Entertainment, Media and Fashion Law Attorney. The former model stands for the #paymodelske trend as she indicates that it is for this reason she became a fashion lawyer.

The PayModelsKenya trend started when former Miss World Kenya, Sheila Kanini came out to expose scandal in the Kenyan Modelling Industry talking about payment and sexual assault. Models who suffered similar fate came out to share their horrible experiences on social media. Unfortunately, some have been forced to give up on their modeling career as a result.

 

Sadly, this does not take place only in Kenya. Models have been denied payment for jobs done in the name of gaining exposure even if they work for free. Some have been expected to serve as escorts on certain occasions and others have been required to exchange sex for favours to get to the top.

Liz urges models to always consult a lawyer who is has in depth knowledge of the industry before signing any contracts and to desist from signing contracts that they feel are not in their best interest.
