Share FacebookTwitterPinterestLinkedinWhatsappTelegramEmail 4.4K President Paul Kagame has taken a bold stand for Rwanda, giving Belgian diplomats just 48 hours to pack their bags and leave the country. The move comes as Kagame’s government accuses Belgium of “consistently” undermining Rwanda while fueling tensions in war-torn eastern Congo. In a strong-worded statement on Monday, Rwanda’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared an immediate severance of diplomatic relations with Belgium. This follows Kagame’s claim that Belgian and European officials have been actively lobbying for international sanctions against Rwanda under false pretenses. “Now, what you see happening every day is nothing but constant accusations. They first make it Rwanda’s war, then turn around and say Rwanda is supporting it,” Kagame asserted. Not one to mince words, Kagame called out Belgium’s “shameless” interference, questioning why a nation as small as Rwanda should face such undue pressure. “They go to Kinshasa, point fingers at us, and say they will impose sanctions. They are shameless. They should leave us alone,” he declared. While Belgium’s foreign minister, Maxime Prevot, expressed regret over Rwanda’s decision, the reality is clear—Kagame refuses to let foreign powers dictate Rwanda’s affairs. Despite Western nations halting aid over unverified UN reports, Kagame remains unwavering in defending Rwanda’s sovereignty.
