When it comes to African hairdos, or atleast the most popular ones, identifying what they are called is fairly simple across all regions of the world. Braids is braids, Afro hair is afro, Corn rows is corn rows, sometimes cane rows, and so one.

But there is one hairdo, in particular, that doesn’t abide by these characteristics. In fact according to followers on FashionGHANA.com, when asked what the hairdo was called in their own country, we received over 30 different names for each country.

The hairstyle is executed in many ways, the most common is having small afro puffs pulled in segments. Another way is having your braids coiled up in buns. In Ghana here, the hairstyle is popularly known as Nteku Nteku, although it is not a very popular hairdo in Ghana.
