She explained how identities like the Ghana Association of Fashion Designers (GAFD) had gone through the proper process in approval and recognition by the government to use the name “Ghana” in their identity and branding, along with advising those in the fashion industry to educate themselves on the importance of being registered with the Registrar’s Office in order to have legal recourse and protection of their own intellectual property. Along with having an open forum to gather with fashion professionals to attain informative education, share ideas, and discuss important topics that are significant to building the Ghana Fashion Industry; guests were also treated to an acapella version of musician AJ Nelson’s new single with superstar Wiyaala, entitled “Power To The People”. Fashion Forum Ghana (FFG) in its debut talks series lit the fire to give the power back to the people in the business of fashion by providing a new outlet to build the Ghana fashion industry through informative education and social networking. The second talk series from Fashion Forum Ghana (FFG) is slated for June 2016 on the topic of Globalizing Ghanaian Fashion. Fashion Forum Ghana (FFG) is a platform for discussion and debate within the Fashion Business community of Ghana. It aims to establish and redirect the Ghanaian fashion industry with respect to both design and best business practice. By providing a forum to discuss and debate the challenges experienced by all members in the industry, we intend to identify challenges and find creative solutions to strengthen the fashion business community, ensuring Ghana’s recognition in the world of fashion, design and creative arts.
