About their collaboration According to the brand; The collaboration seeks to underscore both AJABENG and Okuntakinte’s commitment to the development of the African creative ecosystem and inspire meaningful and impactful cross-disciplinary collaboration among African artists. While both AJABENG and Okuntakinte have a shared penchant for clean structural design elements, this collection seeks to bring Okuntakinte’s unique interpretation of Afro-minimalist design to the signature AJABENG aesthetic. The designs stay true to the ethos and aesthetic of both collaborators, with a focus on storytelling, minimalist cuts, natural colors and materials. The collection made its runway debut at the Institute Museum in Accra, Ghana in October 2022 with part of proceeds from the sale of the collection going towards the museum’s Noldor Artist Residency.
