### Annette Addo-Yobo Makes History as Miss Texas

Annette Addo-Yobo has made history as the first immigrant-born and Ghanaian to win the Miss Texas title. The Southlake resident, crowned on Saturday, expressed her gratitude on Instagram, stating, “I am humbled, honored, and grateful to serve as your 87th Miss Texas.”

From June 25 to June 29, contestants competed in various categories, including talent, interview, health and fitness, and evening gown. Addo-Yobo, an autism advocate, performed a spoken word piece, emphasizing her platform on autism awareness, inspired by her brother.

“Autism awareness isn’t just a platform, it’s my life story,” she shared.

The 26-year-old University of Texas at Dallas graduate, currently pursuing an MBA at Lamar University, will spend the next year representing Texas at events and preparing for the Miss America pageant.

Miss Texas 2023, Ellie Breaux, congratulated Addo-Yobo, saying, “Your journey inspires countless others. Texas is truly fortunate to have you represent us.”

Runners-up included Chloe Burke, Anyssa Mujica, Sadie Schiermeyer, and Nicole Wingard.
