Alia Bare is a Nigerien fashion designer who is the founder of Face of Faith, a top fashion brand based in Senegal. Her ambition is to take her label across Africa and all over the world. She participated in Accra Fashion Week to this effect and showcased outstanding designs on the runway.

Alia has put a petition forward in order to seek justice for her father, the late President Ibrahim Bare Mainassara of Niger, for his unwarranted death that has left her broken and shattered.It has been two decades and everyone seems to have turned a blind eye to the cold and inhumane event that took place on the tarmac of the military airport of Niamey.

On April 9, 1999 while he was preparing to go on a working visit, he was shot in the back, while he was reviewing the troops before boarding. According to Alia Bare Mainassara, the perpetrators of this act are elements of his presidential guard then led by Colonel Daouda Malam Wanké.

Three people lost their lives trying to help him namely;
-Ali Saad, Consul in Libya

– Lieutenant Idé, officer of the presidential guard

– Malam Souley, driver of the President

Even with support from the ECOWAS Court of Justice, the state and judicial system of Niger have remained deaf to the calls for opening an independent inquiry of events that ensued on that fateful day.

This is why she has come up with a petition to remind all Africans and the international community at large, to help her obtain justice for her father by signing the ‘JUSTICE FOR PRESIDENT IBRAHIM BARE MAINASSARA’ petition.
