Share FacebookTwitterPinterestLinkedinWhatsappTelegramEmail 462 The newly crowned Face of Accra Fashion Week 2024/25, Emelia Omole, finally breaks her silence! Out of five finalists, Emelia emerged victorious, impressing the judges with her growth, runway presence, and international appeal. She graced the catwalk for top brands, including Mikoko Deluxe, NeverKnowinglyBoring, and Me By Lee. However, her win remained a behind-the-scenes decision due to an unexpected turn of events at the show. FashionGHANA caught up with Emelia to discuss her journey, her thoughts on Ghana’s modeling industry, and what’s next for the reigning Face of Accra Fashion Week. FashionGHANA.com: So, how does it feel to be the Face of Accra Fashion Week? Emelia: It feels absolutely amazing! I still can’t believe it. The training was intense, and there were moments I felt like giving up. Coming from my background, I never imagined I’d not only walk at Accra Fashion Week but actually become its face! It’s truly a dream come true, and I’m grateful for the opportunity. FashionGHANA.com: How was your experience at Accra Fashion Week? Emelia: It was mind-blowing! I had a completely different perception of fashion shows before stepping into Accra Fashion Week. At first, I was nervous and unsure how everything would turn out. But when the stage was set up, the audience arrived, and the lights came on, I knew I was part of something special. The designers were incredible, their collections looked so professional and high fashion. I spent a lot of time observing the top models, learning from them, and soaking in the experience. It was truly unforgettable! During the event there was a technicality fault with the lights delaying the show upto 40mins being. In attempt to stick to time, the orgaizers will soon have to eliminate the Face of Accra Fashion Week segment out of Accra Fashion Week. The announcement of Emelia Omole as the winner hasnt yet been publisized until this article. FashionGHANA.com: Your win hasn’t been officially announced yet since the crowning segment was removed due to time constraints. How do you feel about that? Emelia: Honestly, it was unfortunate that there wasn’t a proper crowning ceremony. We saw the sash, the winner’s cheque, and everything, so we all expected it to happen on the night. When it didn’t, it was a little disappointing, but I was so focused on the show itself that I wasn’t even thinking about winning. When I finally got the news days later, I was excited but also a bit reserved since it hadn’t been made public yet. But now, I’m just looking forward to making the most of this opportunity. FashionGHANA.com: What do you make of the Ghanaian modeling scene? Emelia: I’m still very new to it, so I’m learning as I go. But from what I’ve seen, it’s quite competitive—very cutthroat at times. I prefer to stay in my lane, work hard, and surround myself with good people. There’s a lot of talent here, and I hope to grow into my own space within the industry. With time, I’ll understand it better and, hopefully, establish myself as one of the top models in Ghana and beyond. FashionGHANA.com: Which models inspire you? Emelia: Alek Wek, without a doubt! She broke barriers and redefined beauty on the international stage. I also admire Adut Akech—her journey is so inspiring. She carries herself with so much grace and confidence. I hope that one day, someone will look back and say the same about me! FashionGHANA.com: What would you say is your best feature? Emelia: Definitely my legs! Ha haa haa! They give me confidence on the runway, and I know how to use them to my advantage when I walk. FashionGHANA.com: As the new Face of Accra Fashion Week, what’s next for you? Emelia: I want to use this title to inspire others and open doors for more opportunities. I plan to work extremely hard, perfect my craft, and make the organizers proud. By the end of my reign, I want people to remember me as a model who made an impact, not just a titleholder. This is just the beginning for me, and I’m ready to take on the world! FashionGHANA.com: Thank you for your time, Emelia. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for you! Emelia: Thank you so much! I appreciate it, and I promise you’ll be seeing a lot more of me!
