Glowing your natural nail without needing an acrylics can be easier more than you can imagine. The only challenges people face in the growing of their natural nails is nail splitting or nail breakages.

Your fingernails and toenails are made out of layers of keratin which is also the protein that hair is made out of, it’s able to repair and rebuild itself after any breakages.

It’s normal for your nail to break or split if you always work with your hands, but there are things you should know and do to prevent it in the future.

Nail Split or breakages can be caused by soo many things and they are as followed;

INFECTIONS

Bacteria and fungal or yeast infection can have an effect on your nails and cause them to split or break. A person with a yeast infection or infected with fungal or bacterial is likely to lose the strength in the nail as the infection might attacks that part of the body too.

MOISTURE

Exposing the nail to too much moisture can cause the nail to split or break. Water is a very good component for dissolving, and exposing or putting your hand in the water for a very long time can make the finger lose its strength and make it weak, soft, and easy to break. Overexposure to moisture can occur while doing dishes, washing hands, or repeated nail polish use.

ACCIDENT OR INJURY

A nail is likely to break if it hardly comes against any hard surfaces like wood, metal, and others. At times these injuries always come in a form of accident but it really causes great damage and weakness to the nails and causes them to break.

PICKING OR BITTING

Many people have this habit of removing every single thing they find in their nail at frequent times, and it is a good way of being hygienic and it’s not bad as many bacterial can go into the body through the fingernails. Many also out of their daily stress choose to bit their nails and have been addicted to it. Bitting and picking the nails can cause stress to the nail and result in a self-inflicted split or broken nail.

Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a chronic autoimmune condition that causes the rapid buildup of skin cells. This buildup of cells causes scaling on the skin’s surface. Psoriasis can affect both the skin and the nails. Psoriasis can cause the nail to thicken, crumble, or split.

How To Prevent It;

1. Take supplements such as biotin with permission from a doctor. Biotin is a water-soluble vitamin also known as vitamin H. Your body needs biotin to convert certain nutrients into energy, and It plays a vital role in the health of your hair, skin, and nails.
2. Avoid keeping your hands or feet in water for long periods to prevent the nail to be soften and easy to break.
3. Restrain from bitting or picking around your nails.
4. Use nail hardening products if the necessity raise.
5. Keep your nails clean and healthy.
6. Moisturize on your nails and cuticles.
7. Avoid using nail polish remover.
8. Do well to prevent your nails to hit against hard surfaces
