Ghana Fashion Awards Set To Return In 2015 After 3 Year Silence

The first ever fashion award event in Ghana dubbed Ghana Fashion Awards has been silent for the past 3 years. Ever since their last show, there has been a series of fashion Awards that have emerged such as Ghana Model Awards, Fashion Icon Awards and rumours has it that Glitz Africa Fashion Week will be separating their award section from their fashion week show creating an awards platform.

This morning the Ghana Fashion Awards team posted a picture on their facebook timeline with text that stated ‘GHANA FASHION AWARDS – NOVEMBER 9TH 2015’. However, no other details was provided as of yet. As of now in Ghana, putting together an event is not an easy task. The economy is fairly weak and Sponsors are reluctant to work with organizers they do not have a current relationship with.

However, on a brighter note, with the great growing numbers of people getting more active in the fashion scene, and foreign interest in African fashion in recent years due to various media outlets and blogs, Ghana Fashion Awards 2015 could see some success. Kofi Ansah who passed away in 2014 played the role as mentor and adviser for the 2012 event. There is no doubt his absence will be honored in the follow up.
