Share FacebookTwitterPinterestLinkedinWhatsappTelegramEmail 424 The Jeanie JQ brand has launched a fashion item which the company calls the ‘Ability Rosette’. This is a Rosette to be used in the hair or can be used as an accessory for women’s clothes. Speaking to the creative director for the brand, Jeanette Altovice Quashie, she explained that the company created that fashion item as a corporate social responsibility to the community they are operating a business in. Their plan is to use fashion as a force for good. Even though the company has other products, they have dedicated this particular item to raise funds for charity. During the World Orphan Day on the 20th of April 2016, the company partnered with STEM Girls Foundation to provide skill training to the orphans at the New Life Nungua childrens home. According to her they did exceptionally well with the manufacturing of this item. The visually impaired students modeled the ‘Ability Rosettes’ among other fashion Accessories during the show. The launch of these item is to help generate income for orphans, the physically challenged and the visually impaired in society. The creative director decided to partner with Michael ‘Miiikeymouse’ Okoromadu, a student of the Radford University Ghana, where she also lectures, to come up with professional fashion photographs for this cause. Michael when interviewed by Jeanette commented ‘I don’t see myself as disabled, I see through the minor hearing issue…whatever disability you may face remember its never the end of the world’. It was this statement that convinced her to partner with him as the right person for the job. The Jeanie JQ brand calls these products ‘The Ability Rosette’ because the company believes that everybody has an ability to excel when given the chance… the ability to help others…the ability to put a smile on a face. ‘It is that same ‘CAN DO’ spirit I want to see in the wearers of this fashion item’ Jeanette added. Disability is rather the inability to see an Ability. The orphans when given the chance did great, The visually impaired when given the opportunity modeled like professionals. The Jeanie JQ brand is appealing to corporate organisations, philanthropists, and individuals to come on board or purchase this item to help support this worthy cause. Funds raised from these Ability Rosettes will be used to support charities. It will be available to buy at the Jeanie JQ Shop, 78 Freetown Avenue, East Legon , Accra.
