Surely, you can expect to get a few wrinkles, but why does acne seem to persist into adulthood? The good thing is you can take control of your complexion and significantly minimize breakouts and aging alike. All you need do is follow a daily routine to help neutralize and prevent them altogether. Here are five ways to get a clean face that will be the envy of all. Follow Basic Skincare Regimen Clear skin starts with the products you apply to the skin. You don’t have to follow any kind of complicated routine except for three basic products, namely; cleanser, exfoliant, and moisturizer. Using a gentle cleanser, morning and night—will help remove the excess sebum in your skin. Sebum is the oil that hydrates the skin, but it can also be overproduced and, in turn, block pores. The cleanser will also wash away dirt, grime, sweat, and toxins that have accumulated on the skin, minimizing the threat of clogged pores and breakouts. It will lift dead surface cells away from the skin. The dead cells more than often block pores and prevent healthier, lively skin cells from showcasing themselves. The third basic product to use is a moisturizer. It helps to soothe and rehydrate your skin. Use one that comes with a sunscreen to protect against dark spots and prevent signs of aging while nourishing the skin. Sebum is the oil that hydrates the skin, but it can also be overproduced and, in turn, block pores. Cut Down On Stress Changes in your testosterone levels will most times increase sebum production in the skin, which increases the odds of clogged pores. You may also notice that you are more acne-prone when you’ve experienced significant levels of stress. Try to reduce stress and pay closer attention to your cleansing regimen during these periods. Eat And Drink Right If your skin routinely breaks out after eating certain kinds of food such as milk products or sweets, then you may want to eliminate such foods systematically from your diet to see if your face becomes clearer. Caffeine and alcohol can both dry out the skin (and dehydrate the whole body). If you drink a lot of coffee or alcohol, you increase your chance of breakouts. Hydrating your entire body however remains the best way to maintain hydrated, clear skin and this will help keep your complexion. Sugary foods are the biggest offenders because sugar spikes the hormones that produce sebum in the skin, which increases the odds of blocked pores. Try not to eat anything packed densely with sugar, such as cereals, candies, fruit juices, and processed foods. Hygiene Should Be Your Best Friend Ensure that you wash your skin and rehydrate it whenever you get too sweaty or oily. This is because the dried sweat can clog pores and prevent sebum from being excreted. It’s not bad to cleanse and moisturize more than twice a day, but it’s really only essential when the skin is too oily and requires cleaning. You should also consider keeping a skin toner on hand to help regulate the oil production in the skin; this may prevent you from getting too oily in the first place. Use it after cleansing, but before moisturizing. Remember to wash your pillowcases often too given the amount of time your face stays pressed on them. Wash them once weekly, at least, and cleanse your face first thing in the morning to flush away any grime that may have accumulated overnight. See A Dermatologist If you judiciously follow a skincare regimen and and you still have trouble with pimples and acne, you may want to see a dermatologist to help pinpoint some topical or oral prescriptions that might help clear up your skin—and keep it clear.
