I can’t lie, of the designers from the Congo, Malleni Peace had to be my favourite. Each design just worked with the plight of African fashion today. We can’t just continue to add print to a dress and expect to call ourselves designers. Malleni took her designs a far step further. I think we are yet to catch up with her. Just view these lovely garments.

Kinshasa Fashion Week 2013 took place between the 26-28th of July, showcasing 19 designers and creating a beautiful international runway platform for local Congolese designers (Click here to see the full list of all 19 designers). The week also featured two of Africa’s shining lights, South Africa’s David Tlale and Alain Naiva from Côte d’Ivoire, who ascended to the DRC to headline a line-up the event decorated with Congolese distinguished designers.
