After being accessible to almost any and every celebrity from the USA of the African diaspora, it seems president Nana Akufo Addo has set an even low bar for the respect of the Ghanaian presidency and nation following
Upon seeing the fact that Meek Mill shot a video at the Jubilee house, it’s easy to bypass it as just another day in the world of entertainment….but no, it isn’t. This is the house for Ghanaian presidents. This is the legacy of leadership for the Ghanaian people.
A monument in the long line of accolades that have been established since the late Kwame Nkrumah fought for first national independence in Africa. A location that the average Ghanaian has absolutely zero access to. But yet a rapper who built a career off rapping about killing and shooting other black people, gets easy access to the location and a chance to sit and meet with the president to discuss national progress.
DISCLAIMER: We are not taking away the fact that Meek Mill, like most African American rappers, has been able to inspire many youths in believing they can come from nothing and enter a life of wealth, we are not taking away from the fact that he it active in a prison reform project that supports inmates to do better. However, facts are facts and Meek Mill is a rapper who has made a name, a career and millions of killing and guns.
But in Ghana, popularity speaks, and that alone gets you a seat with president Nana Akufo Addo. Well, Meek Mill took the opportunity to show the world a new low for Ghana’s Jubilee House. He added insult to injury and took his presence at the government building to shoot a new video for another one of his gangster rap videos, watch below.
The idea of shooting a music video in the Jubilee House is far from an issue, the type of lyrics and song of choice is something every Ghanaian should be offended by, especially everyone that gave him the opportunity to do so. He would need a lot of replication and fake studio work just to emulate something similar to the White House and not even be permitted two miles inside there with a camera. But not with Ghana’s Jubilee House, and not with president Nana Akufo Addo.
One would have believed the ‘Year Of Return’ was about bringing the diaspora back to learn about their culture.
