The event which made a strong name for itself within the years of 2013-16 took a 5-year hiatus in its activities and was nowhere to be seen for quite a while. See our last coverage of the event below. #MMR2015: See Wizkid, Seyi Shey ,Victoria Kimani, Lil Kesh, David Tlale And More At Music Meets Runway 2015 Surprisingly in December 2021 it returned with a bang and it was definitely worth the wait. Amongst a few of the activities we missed out of due to the preparations for the Paypecker Accra Fashion Week 2021, Music Meets Runway proves an extremely enjoyable event with great Nigerian fashion and culture donned on some of the nations most beautiful models, as well as performances by renowned talents of the country. To those in Ghana, this would technically be the Nigerian edition of Rythmz On Da Runway by KOD. Since the initiation of the event in 2011, guests at the MMR show have enjoyed performances of the likes of artists like Davido who made his stage debut on the Music Meets Runway Stage. Music Legends like Femi Kuti, Tuface, Dbanj, Wizkid, Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage, Banky W, Victor Olaiya, Sound Sultan and much more. Face Of Music Meets Runway As far as fashion goes, the show has also hosted the likes of designers such as Deola Sagoe, Lanre Da Silva Ajayi, Mai Atafo, David Thale, Angela Simmons, as well as models such as Super Model Alex Wek, and Millen Magese, Oluchi, and more. Back To The Future Stepping in 2021 MMR although was a little less noisy than the previous but no short of a great comeback and an introduction to much more successful shows. Designers that Nya Raakna, JReason, Jennifer Olize, ZiVa Lagos and Ejiro Amos Tafiri. All of whom showcased aongside fantastic musical Nigerian talents. The showcase was amongst some of the most culturally contemporary Nigerian fashion to date. Designers who specifically stood out for us were Nya Raakna, founded by Creative Designer Oyinda Ahmed. Showcasing her brand and talent for the first time, captivating us with her bright popping adire colored fabrics as seen below. We couldn’t help to fall in love with lifestyle swimwear and accessories brand LRP Beach run by Jennifer Olize, with their animal print swimwear. This fun showcase featured Rising Superstar RUGER, who had guests on their feet with his hit singles “BOUNCE” and “DIOR”. There were also some beautiful resort menswear by well-known Nigerian menswear brand JReason which showcased many must-have pieces. All in all, the show made a great come back last year December, and these images prove it. We definitely look forward to seeing a much more spectacular event this year.
