Over the past couple of months, the concept of the New Force has been a lingering question for Ghanaians. Shortly after the Jolorbi demonstrations in the capital city of Accra, as well as in Germany, the USA, UK, and more—where protestors acknowledged President Akofu Addo as the son of a thief and exposed his corrupt government—a faction of the protestors is no longer hoping for the majority opposition NDC to return to power.

This faction is fed up with the nation’s management by both the current leading party NPP and its opposition NDC. This sentiment has sparked a conversation and a social media trend calling for a third force. The only question was: who is the third force?

Nana Bediako, a billionaire and owner of the number 1 hotel, capitalized on this and began mysterious random advertisements on billboards and more, promoting ‘The New Force.’ For the most part, influencer Shalimar Abbiusi, a professional Belgian TV personality, model, and a former international beauty queen, became a spokesperson for this concept. This opened her up to a wide range of critique, as many Ghanaians were not excited about a Belgian taking the ultimate job in Ghana.

With mystery in the air, a convention was scheduled to be held yesterday, on the 7th of January 2024, featuring outstanding political leaders: Peter Obi from Nigeria, PLO Lumumba from Kenya, Julius Malema from South Africa, and Dr. Afrikan from Zimbabwe. All of them were present except Julius Malema.

Due to unforeseen circumstances caused by the police, the event was canceled at the Black Star Square and reconvened in a press room limited to media personnel.
