Many years ago, sometime in 1957, a great man by the name of Nkwame Nkrumah had just won the victory for independence for a nation that was once called the Gold Coast, meaning the territory where Europeans exploit and extort gold from Africa.

After perseverance and revolutionary struggles, the name of the land was eventually changed to Ghana, and for one people envisioned a life where their resources and labor will go toward their livelihood.

This day today, 6th March 2023, and every other year is an official state holiday for the citizens of Ghana both within and in the diaspora to honor and celebrate the Heroes of Ghana who led the country to attain its independence.

So Ghana’s independence day is upon us and various creatives and models are taking to social media to exhibit their appreciation for Ghana in a multitude of pictures, some glamour, some editorial, some lifestyle, and much more.

One outstanding set of images that definitely captivates the sentimental state of the Ghanaian people is a recent editorial shot by Stephen Eshun. The editorial features 3 native Accra-based Ghanaian models in opulent suits by Nana Black, known as @proud_blak on Instagram.
