The institution awarded her with an honorary doctorate degree that recognized her decades-spanning impact on the fashion world. She accepted the honor onstage during a graduation ceremony at the Royal Festival Hall, where she gave an emotional speech to the graduates. The party was influenced by an all-black fashion theme and the queen herself was surprised with a birthday cake.
