Pineapple farmer James Kinuthia, once disposing of or burning pineapple leaves, now sells them to Pine Kazi at 15 Kenyan shillings each, creating an additional revenue stream for farmers. The company employs workers to sort and extract fibers from the leaves, which are then processed into sustainable textiles through drying, spinning, and weaving. Pine Kazi’s initiative addresses both economic and environmental concerns, contributing to reduced carbon and methane emissions from discarded pineapple waste.
