Fashionistas seeking the most fabulous fashion-forward few days should spend some time plotting their route and their diary for the four days of the city of Gold’s most exciting festival of fashion, taking the following top tips into account: · Jen Su, TV and radio presenter, suggests choosing something a bit funkier and unusual than what you would normally wear, with a standout signature accessory or style element helping you stand out from the rest. “Don’t wear ball gowns or show too much skin either,” she says. “A bit of a sexy hint is great – but remember that the sexiest thing about you is your smile and your confidence – so make sure you put them on before anything else!” · There’s a lot of rain forecast for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Joburg (MBFWJ), so make sure you keep that elegant stride down the corridors and across the square by wearing shoes that look great, but that will cope with the wet – and sometimes uneven – floor. · Tell the world what you think about the most exciting fashion event this year on the SABC GlamCam, which gives aspiring fashion reporters and established fashion fans the opportunity to tell it like it is. (It’s fabulous, of course!) · Make sure you’re properly equipped to deal with the day’s excitement by stopping for a free cup of tea or coffee at either the Five Roses Tea Station, or the Lavazza Coffee Bar, situated in the activations area on the upper level outside Forever 21. · In too much of a rush to mend your manicure before heading out to MBFJW? Never fear, the SOHO Nail Bar is near! Professional manicurists are on hand to help you navigate your way around the season’s nail colour trends. Also in the activations area. · Get ready for celeb-spotting! South Africa’s most popular personalities from TV and radio will be on hand to view the latest offerings from South Africa’s leading established and up-and-coming designers. · Look out for fashion’s up-and-coming talent in the AFI Fastrack show, which introduces collections by Marquin Sampson and Tayla Shan Ngukos for the first time. · MBFWJ is committed to challenging convention, and is proud to host Kgothatso Dithebe, an unusually pigmented model, who will walk for the AFI Fastrack show. · Diarise the designers! If you don’t have tickets for your favourite shows, grab yourself a table at one of the restaurants around Nelson Mandela Square – even if you’re not in THE front row, you will still have a great view of the Autumn/Winter collections on display. o Thursday 10 March 2016 18h00 – Khosi Nkosi 19h15 – Marianne Fassler 20h30 – Stefania Morland 21h30 – The Intern by David Tlale o Friday 11 March 2016 18h00 – Tamara Cherie / Tuelo Nguyuza Collectiv 19h15 – Speri Viliotti Couture 20h30 – Mille Collines 22h00 – David Tlale (in Sandton City) o Saturday 12 March 2016 14h00 – Akedo Exclusive Presentation 15h30 – AFI Fastrack 17h00 – SELFI / Augustine 18h15 – Leigh Schubert / Grapevine 19h30 – Scalo / KL Tsotetsi in association with FALKE 20h30 – Carducci “We’re particularly excited to host MBFWJ at Nelson Mandela Square, because it means that the daily fashion showcases form the central point of a weekend of socializing and being seen at some of the country’s best and most interesting restaurants around the heart of the fashion precinct,” says Nzimande. “What’s more, there’s nothing quite like a cutting-edge fashion spectacular to inspire a shopping spree or two – and luckily, the hundreds of shops at Sandton City and Nelson Mandela Square are sure to offer something exciting for everyone attending the shows.” South Africa Event News, Reviews & Updates Upcoming Events designersfashionfashion weekmercedes benz fashion week joburgMercedes-Benz fashion weekMercedes-Benz Fashion Week Joburg 2016South Africasouth african Share FacebookTwitterPinterestLinkedinWhatsappTelegramEmail Nana Tamakloe Founder of FashionGHANA.com and Accra Fashion Week.
