PICS: Here Are The Stunning Beauties Keeping Africa’s Hope Alive In The Miss World Competition

In 1970, Grenadian-born Jennifer Hosten became the first black woman and the first woman from her country to win the Miss World title. However, for the past 30 years, nothing came to overshadow the fact that Africans and black nations had been consistently wasting enormous efforts in the competition.

Between 1970 to 2020 not more than 5 black women managed to scoop the Miss World title. The last black beauty queen to scoop the Miss World pageant was Toni-Ann Singh of Jamaica in 2019. This could be potential an overturning period for the pageant or possibly just a passage for the organization to scoop the Black Girl Magic wave in 2019 which also saw a black Miss Universe, Miss Teen USA, and Adult Akech winning Model of The Year.

But truth be told, you didn’t click here to receive a history lesson on the color cast system that have plagued numerous international pageants, however, we felt it was necessary so one doesn’t oversoak their hopes in the upcoming Miss World 2021 beauty pageant despite how beautiful the African contestants in the competition may be. And believe they are extremely gorgeous.

The pageant is titled Miss World 2021 as the event was initially scheduled for 16th December 2021 and eventually postponed to March 2022. The four African countries that are in the running for the Miss World title are Palesa Mofele for Botswana, Audrey Monkam for Cameroon, Olivia Yacé for Cote d’Ivoire, and Nene Bah for Guinea.

However, it seems the support for Olivia Yacé stems across the African continent partially due to her viral stunning fashion shoots orchestrated every since her Miss Cote d’Ivoire win.

Olivia Yacé also recently won the Miss World 2021 top model title, with Cameroon’s Audrey Monkam stepping in as the first runners up.

The finals are scheduled for tonight and by no doubt, one or more of these African girls will be runners up if not winning. See the four ladies we can look forward to winning the title.
