At 26 years old, Senegalese model and Miss Grand France 2024, Safiétou Kabengele, made waves at the Miss Grand International 2024 finals in Bangkok, Thailand. Known for her elegance and boldness, Safiétou delivered a moment of pure pageant history during the swimwear competition when she unexpectedly removed her wig mid-walk, tossing it to the previous contestant approaching her. Safiétou Kabengele has continuous made iconic moments through out the show and is by far one of the favorites amongst others and even more favored by Africans than the contestants representing African countries.

According to Alek Wek in an interview “That wig was not just about me taking it off to make a scene. It was a time that I was just starting in fashion, to work. And the one thing that I told my agents was if you are going to represent me, I’m not going to be a gimmick and be in for a couple of seasons. You’re going to take it all or leave it.”
