"Stop Embarrassing Us (Ghanaians) On These Platforms" Fuse ODG Checks Michael Blackson For His 'Drink Champs' Comments

Comedian Michael Blackson is on a role in America for being an unofficial ambassador to Ghana. The half-Liberian, half-Ghanaian comedian rose to fame in the US black comedy circuit by using an exaggerated African accent for his comedy stand-up and movie roles.

As Ghana became more widely accepted in the mainstream, Michael Blackson began to spend more time in the country almost as much, if not more as he did in the USA. Being a renowned popular comedian/actor who was no a celebrity in the USA, he became one of the main faces in the west when Africa is brought up.

Michael Blackson On Drink Champs

On a recent interview he did on a popular American hip hop podcast ‘Drink Champs’ the actor stated “Nigeria has all the stars. I could name ten artists from Nigeria; Davido, Tecno, Kizz Dnaiel, etc On the other hand, Ghana is becoming the Dubai of Africa and we only have four people from Ghana; You think like Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, Black Sherif, and I’m like let me make that fifth person- that’s Gambo,” Blackson said.

After catching some slack from Ghana after the podcast video went viral, Michael Blackson reverted his statement in a series of tweets, Blackson stated that he needed to know more Ghanaian artists because he only knew the four he mentioned earlier (Black Sherif, Sarkodie, Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy) and added that he was aware of DBlack too.

“I need to get to know more of my Ghana 🇬🇭 artists because the only names I can remember are @shattawalegh @stonebwoy @sarkodie @blacksherif_ @DBLACKGH

He then also added…

Fuse ODG Isn’t Cool With It

But Fuse ODG did not take the compliment likely. Fuse ODG a rapper none the less to the UK like what Michael Blackson is to the USA became popular in the UK from making Ghanaian azonto music at the time Ghana music was finding its feet on the international market.

Fuse ODG decided to check Michael Blackson on his words and instead, replied with “Mike…I don’t know how you go on @Drinkchamps and say there are only 4 artists in Ghana. Not cool bro. I’ve personally introduced u to a lot of GH artists in GH! smh. Stop embarrassing us on these platforms…you’re supposed to educate them.”

Michael since then has spent time reconciling his approach with other Ghanaian tweets that expressed a similar opinion and in a more recent tweet he stated.
