Ghana’s Top & Aspiring Models Gear Up For Major Accra Fashion Week Casting

Models are gearing up to strut their stuff at the upcoming casting for Accra Fashion Week 2023, an event aptly subtitled “Vive l’Afrique.” This theme signifies the progress of the African people, despite the limitations imposed on the continent due to its historical relationship with Europe.

The casting is scheduled to take place on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at Cloud9ine in Osu, Accra. This casting call is open to both female and male models, and it welcomes participants from both Ghana and abroad. Notably, this year, models residing outside the country have the opportunity to audition online by simply posting a video on their Instagram page, using the tags @AccraFashionWeek and #AccraFashionWeek, as indicated on the flyer below.

The event is set to host designers from approximately 15 countries and introduce new cultural entertainment to the runway. Accra Fashion Week, conceived in 2016, revolutionized the Ghanaian fashion scene by elevating the standards of models featured in shows, aligning them more closely with Western industry norms. This was a notable departure from the past, where popular models and close acquaintances often dominated the runway.

Additionally, the organizers are introducing “Face of Accra Fashion Week,” a process that has brought forth individuals with the potential to shine on the international stage. Notably, nearly every winner of this competition has gone on to make a mark on the global fashion scene. For models participating in the event, it’s an opportunity to embark on a promising and enduring journey in the world of fashion.
