The hairstyles in this shoot were inspired by the changing role of women in the 1920’s. On the advent of the American elections in 2016, we thought we would celebrate the 1920’s. In 1920, women were given the right to vote.
We opted for white lace clothing to bring forth a modern element to the shoot. The golden glow of the shoes & make-up creates a sleek and sensual but innocent look. We have to remember since women secured the right to vote, women have—time and again—donned white garments as a show of solidarity and as a way to identify historic achievements.
The pristine aesthetic is an homage to the official color of the U.S. suffrage movement that took place early last century and a nod to the historic nature of the last election when a female president was almost voted into American office. Women wore clothing more convenient for activity and stopped wearing long skirts and corsets. So we went for fashion that was fun, flirty and broke barriers.
Latenda used virgin brazilian hair extensions which were dyed honey brown to blend with the model’s natural hair colour.
