Unfortunately UK based Ghanaian musician Stormzy and his wife, Love Island host Maya Jama, have announced their separation through a heartfelt social media message.
On Wednesday, July 17, Maya shared the news on her Instagram Stories, stating they ended things amicably and will remain friends. “We never thought we’d be the couple announcing a breakup,” the message begins, adding that they wanted clarity and peace as they move forward.
The couple reflected on their journey, including their 2019 split. “We fell in love in 2014, broke up in 2019, and spent five years apart. We tried again in August 2023, but recently decided to call it quits.”
They highlighted their growth both together and separately, expressing continued care and respect for each other. They emphasized they will always be friends and asked fans not to make a fuss if seen together.
Maya and Stormzy acknowledged the announcement might seem “dramatic” but wanted to avoid speculation. They concluded by asking for privacy and thanking fans for their love and support.
