VIDEO: Watch Nigerian Men Go Through Tattoo Pain For Pink Lips In New Video

2 years ago, we brought to you the story of Senegalese women who tattoo their gums black as it was believed pink gums were not attractive (See It Here). Despite the video being up since 2012, it was not until FashionGHANA.com’s coverage before the story lit on fire.

Unfortunately, black doesn’t go for some Nigerian men as far as lips are concerned. Sometime back in 2013 the pink tattooing of the lips surfaced across social media in the video “>here but as we saw no other reference to this fashion so we did not cover it. So when it arose again in a new video in 2015 by Battabox (again), it became obvious that this is something that is here to stay.

The video shows a lip tattoo artist who claims he has been in business for 5 years and the most prominent reason for his clients tattooing their lips is that these men do it for their interviews. Because speaking to an interviewer in Nigeria with black lips is frightening for the interviewer. You don’t have to take our word for it, watch the video below.
