Why Unpopular Fashion Blogs In Ghana Refused To Cover Accra Fashion Week

Despite the endless support given to Accra Fashion Week by various entertainment and social blogs, despite the event pulling designers from almost every continents and every corner of Africa to Ghana, despite the post coverage making news on major sites such as Yahoo news, Msn news, Getty Images, Daily Mail, and much more. There was an attempt to remain silent on various ‘fashion blogs’ in Africa.

 

But when you find out why you will be extremely shocked. It’s as simple as this, there is much envy with various bloggers whom have seen FashionGHANA.com as some sort of competition or some sort of threat to their existence. Or at times individuals who are either associated with them. Their nature of blogging has usually been centered around, Jessy is my friend she gets an article, Fred is not he doesn’t. The inaugural edition of Accra Fashion Week packed a large 63 x 36 meter venue for 3 days continuously, whilst going against heavy rain, political rallies and other fashion events, yet the large turn out and fashion sensation seemed to have slipped them by.

What makes this behavior so appalling is that most of the said blogs with this behavior have little to no visitors on their websites and can barely keep up with updating their blogs even weekly. In fact the truth is most people are unaware they did not publish the event, thats how quiet their articles are. They spend very little on maintenance and their only acknowledgement is created through running facebook ads, all whilst disappointed with FashionGHANA’s lead in acknowledgement.

It’s a disturbing reality of fashion in Africa which actually stifles their own business. Little do they know, their publishing of the fashion week would have been more beneficial to them via to their google rankings and search engines, than to Accra Fashion Week which seems to be headlining some of the biggest international media outlets and the amazing entertainment blogs of Ghana that are doing well with visitation.

If you are a lover of Fashion in Africa, it may be time to reconsider which blogs you get your news source from. We are sure some may take a lesson from this article and others make even strengthen their backwards behavior. FashionGHANA.com is prepared to work with and support any blog or blogger or event organizer for that matter accordingly in attempt to promote fashion in Ghana and Africa, irregardless of the status of our friendship and will only shy away from individuals or activities if working inappropriately in a professional sense.
