Share FacebookTwitterPinterestLinkedinWhatsappTelegramEmail 361 Its only 10 days left and the fashion world of Ghana is on it’s toes. Those who have been glued to their tvs will be fully aware the Ghana Fashion Awards 2015 will be happening shortly, and would also have seen short clips of the various nomineees speaking on their brands and businesses on eTV every Friday. Outside of the fashion awards that have taken place in various shows, Ghana Fashion Awards took place as the first fashion related award event to take place in Ghana. Since then, there has been a rise of other award events and the list goes as follows. Fashion Icons Awards, Glitz Style Awards, Ghana Model Awards, Afro Model Agency Awards and Ghana Photography Awards. The last two which are still yet to be executed. So the question is, is GFA worth the hype. To answer the question, yes. So far, there has been little to no criticism of their choice of nominees, however it would have been lovely to have seen a stylist of the year award, as well as separate categories for the male and female model nominees. Work by the likes of stylists such as Empress Jamilia, Kel Vincent and others, do play a vital and promising role in the years to come, and maybe it might not be too late to see this put into effect. Will we meet a fashion event that actually starts on time in Ghana? Will people leave the venue satisfied with the choice of winners? Many questions stand, never the less baring the title of the national fashion awards, the pressure is on to ensure their event stands as the beacon for all fashion award events in Ghana, and judging by past events, they do have some high standards to go by. Ghanaian fashion has really grown in the recent years, despite countries like Nigeria and South Africa being some of the largest economies, there is no denying that majority the trending African fashion around the world and on social media stems from the culture of Ghanaian fashion. This, in conjunction with our strong tourism sector, Ghana easily has the opportunity to become the fashion hub of Africa and create immense employment. And hopefully those that are shaping the industry and awarded on the night will be acknowledged by the wider fashion community. For more information on this event, click here.
